5 SEO myths you shouldn't believe

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the totality of measures taken by those who manage websites, with the aim of having a more favourable position in the search engine results page (S.E.R.P.). Although SEO is increasingly well known among entrepreneurs and has a history that spans more than 2 decades, there have been a lot of myths that have been propagated, even if they are not true.

  1. SEO doesn't work anymore. It's true that many SEO techniques that worked 10-15 years ago are no longer relevant. This does not mean that SEO does not work, everyone who builds a correct strategy and takes into account the indications of the search engine in which they want to be positioned as high as possible can, over time, achieve remarkable results. Oftentimes, SEO is just about great content, good site speed, a consistent Social Media presence, and backlinks.

  2. Lots of content = good results. There is a little truth to this myth, as long texts are better seen by Google. There is one condition, however: those texts must be of good quality. Rich content that is not of interest to readers will end up being displayed in poor positions. Better a short, very good quality content and much better a long, very good quality content.

  3. Images are not important. Image SEO is actually very important. Google image searches have grown tremendously in recent times, so that a well-chosen image can attract thousands of people to the site. The optimization of the images must be done by a correct description, by choosing a correct title and by resizing, in such a way that the loading of the site is done very rapidly.

  4. Social media has no impact on SEO. It is another statement that is not true at all. The positioning of a site in search engines is also done according to how many visitors the site has and how much time they spend browsing and reading its texts. Presence in social networks and attracting as many readers as possible to the site can be decisive actions for success.

  5. Website backlinks are not that important and must come exclusively from very high authority sites. It is true that a high authority site will be much more valuable than a lower authority site. However, all clean backlinks are important and can create a profile that is highly visible to Google.
